Duke Altum's Poem of the Week #48

The latest in my increasingly-misnamed series...

Effusive commentary on this one would literally wreck its impact... suffice it to say that this short masterpiece by an American poet I am learning to deeply admire, Franz Wright, somehow manages to be utterly hilarious and quietly profound at the same time.

Description of Her Eyes

Two teaspoonfuls,
and my mind goes
everyone can kiss my ass now--

then it's changed,
I change my mind.

Eyes so sad, and infinitely kind.
